So I've started this new workout program at the Gym called Targeted Hypertrophy Training or T.H.T. for short.
As you can see its from a guy called Mark McManus who has really put the research into the science behind muscle building, exercise and optimal diet to suit anybody's lifestyle. There's a choice of 2 workout routines, 3 or 5 days per week which both run for 10 weeks at which time you swap over or alternate. Theres also a choice of meal plans to go for, I've gone for the 5 days per week workout with a low carb diet plan (Dont worry, mark explains it all in depth)
I've always been skeptical about a lot of things you read in magazines such as Men's Health or the usual bodybuilding monthly's because a lot of what they say is obviously geared towards selling more and more supplements that you probably don't need, and this is reinforced when you turn the cover and the first nine pages are advertisements for wonder drugs that will make you bigger and stronger overnight.
Let me make one thing clear, I have no affiliation with the author Mark McManus, I have never met, spoken to him or even been in contact with him by email. I just think that after reading what he has to say, he makes a LOT of sense. Coupled with this are the references to actual scientific studies that have been carried out citing real world results.
I had hit a plateau in what I was doing at the gym and although I had hit my realistic overall weight objectives (Down from 195lbs to 170lbs) I wasn't really getting any further in terms of growth or strength.
I came across an article by Mark on the internet about supplements and protein on his website Musclehack.com and decided to give his process a go. 3 weeks in to the 5 day plan and I'm already seeing results :-) I've gained around an inch on my biceps and about an inch on my chest size and I'm only 3 weeks into the 10 week plan.
I'm going to up my weights again over the coming weeks and I'll let you know how it goes but so far so good and guess what...... It's totally FREE!! mark sends out informative info on what hes doing now and there are some specific items that he charges for (which I've bought) but for the main part its just really good information and advice without all the usual BS. Go to Musclehack.com and check it out if your looking gain some size and feel better in the process. Remember to sign up for email notifications here on the right of my blog and I'll try to keep you updated on how its all going.
